Week of Dec 6 – 12, 2009 Manga Round up.

I just spent the entire week reading History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi.  I regret nothing.

  • Ane Doki (ch. 23): I think I can officially say that this series has went from meh  to okay. At least it’s better than the shitfest that’s Naruto.
  • Baka to Boin (ch. 16-17): Pretty decent chapters even though they both felt very short.
  • Bakuman (ch. 67): Bakuman is getting an anime series? If that isn’t fucking meta, then I don’t know what is.
  • Gantz (ch. 309): It isn’t a Gantz chapter unless the entire chapter is packed with blood, guts, glory, and danger.  Oh and only five minutes goes by from the start of the chapter until the end.
  • Gokujou Drops (ch. 20): Wow, no attempted rapes this chapter.
  • Hayate the Combat Butler (ch. 252): Uhhh… holy shit, I didn’t see that coming at all.
  • History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi (ch. 364): Just spent the entire week reading this manga from the beginning less than a week ago.  I’m glad I did though.  Even though it’s filled with tons of tropes, it’s still a lot better than Naruto.
  • Kanojo wa Kannou Shousetsuka (ch. 16): It’s amazing how your opinion of a series changes once you start reading each chapter as they come out instead of all at once.  In this case, it went from being okay to “wow that was kind of boring”.
  • Mahou Sensei Negima (ch. 273): It still amazes me how this series went from a generic harem manga to a full blown battle manga. And that is awesome.
  • Mama wa Dokyuusei (ch. 9): Boring washing machine arc is finally over. In the end, they didn’t even pick out a washer.
  • Medaka Box (ch. 29-30): I really hope Jump puts this series out of its misery. I mean, I’ve seen worse but man, this had so much potential when it first came out.
  • Naruto (ch. 475): At this point, I don’t even care about the eye sucking bullshit anymore. I just this series to just hurry up and die so that I can stop reading.
  • One Piece (ch. 567): Oh Garp, why do you have to be such an asshole? :(
  • Onidere (ch. 84): Not as good as the last chapter but still good nonetheless. If you haven’t read this series because of the terrible drawings, then you’re missing out.
  • Psyren (ch. 98): It was an okay chapter but the next chapter is going to be a flash back chapter.  Sigh.
  • Tiji-kun (ch. 8): And that’s it for the fake Tiji.  I’m glad they didn’t drag that out for too long.
  • The World God Only Knows (ch. 72): That’s the end of the Ramen arc. A good chapter but I really wish they did more chapters with the previous girls.

Week of Nov 29 – Dec 5 09 Manga roundup

I was planning on doing a full review of some of the mangas I’ve been reading but seeing as how I’ve been occupied during the weekend, I wasn’t able to get around to doing that.  So, for now, I think I’ll just do a couple of one-two sentence reviews of mangas that recently came out with a new chapter during this week (and only if I’m caught up on the series).  I only do mangas that have already been translated since I can’t read Japanese.  Also, just because I’m reading the series, doesn’t mean it’s a good series.  In fact, most of the crap I’m reading aren’t very good at all.

  • Ane Doki (ch. 22): So, we find out why the main female lead ran away from home.  The series isn’t terrible but apparently it’s not good enough where I’m going to bother remembering the main heroine’s name.
  • Baka to Boin (ch. 15): Some kissing here and there but nothing gets resolved.  I suppose it was okay.
  • Bakuman (ch 65): More wacky faces and a cliffhanger ending.  Yep, that’s Bakuman for you and I fucking love it.
  • Claymore (ch. 98): Doesn’t it seem strange that more shit happens in a single chapter of One Piece (a weekly series) than two chapters of Claymore combined (a monthly series)?
  • Domina no Do (ch. 13): Even though I still hate all the characters, it wasn’t as bad as usual.  It’s still terrible.
  • Freezing (ch. 24): Any chapter that shows the main female character demonstrating her love for hamburgers by stacking five of them on top of each other before devouring it all is alright with me!
  • Gokujou Drops (ch. 18): Attempted rape count this chapter: 1.
  • Hajimete no Aku (ch. 44): One of the heroine in training falls in love with the main dude. Chapter was totally awesome.
  • Half Prince (ch. 38): One of the heroine falls in love with an NPC.  Chapter was meh.
  • Hayate the Combat Butler (ch. 251): Holy shit, it’s been like three chapters already and you haven’t made up your god damn decision yet?!
  • Hoozuki-san Chi no Aneki (ch. 1-2): Creepy incest 4koma BUT THEY’RE NOT RELATED BY BLOOD.  I’m probably not going to keep reading it.
  • Kanojo wa Kannou Shousetsuka (ch. 15): It’s almost like Bakuman except it’s not as good.  It’s okay I guess.
  • Mahou no Iroha (ch. 3): I honestly wouldn’t mind if they did destroy all sports stadiums not because I loathe sports in general but because I hate the douchebags who are into watching other people play.
  • Mahou Sensei Negima (ch. 272): Shit just got real (again).
  • Mama wa Dokyuusei (ch. 8): Nothing happens; series continues to be bland and boring as hell.
  • Nagaserete no Airantou (ch. 70): It’s about damn time they got some serious Ayane time in.  Too bad all that means jack shit since Ayane isn’t the first girl which means I just wasted my time.
  • Naruto (ch. 474): Another fucking boring chapter but at least it doesn’t have Sasuke.  That automatically makes this chapter five times better than chapters with Sasuke in.  I’m not even kidding.
  • No Bra (ch. 24): I hated all the characters in this manga when I first started and I still hate everybody 24 chapters later.
  • One Piece (ch. 566): This is probably the best arc I have ever read and we’re just getting started.
  • Onidere (ch. 83): The art is still bad but that doesn’t stop it from being a great chapter.
  • Tiji-kun (ch. 6): Needs less fighting and more daily school shit.
  • The World God Only Knows (ch. 71): I can see the ending.  Another great chapter.

Even if I’m too lazy to get any updates, I’m going to at least try to see if I can post a manga update every week or so.  Maybe write my thoughts down in a sentence every time I finish a new chapter?  We’ll see how this goes.

Oh god damn it.

FUUUUCCCCKKKKK

This is what happens when you try to do the right thing and update wordpress.  You accidentally nuke the entire site, instead.  Oh well, I only had like 60 some entries.  I’m going to see if I can try to start posting some more entries again since I’ve been reading a lot of mangas recently.  I’m pretty sure I’m not going to keep posting for a long time since I always seem to have a tough time getting my thoughts down in writing.  But it’s always worth trying again.
